In the aftermath of the Elephants' heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to Egypt in the quarter-finals, captain Franck Kessié broke his silence. Despite the bitterness of the elimination on January 10th in Agadir, the midfielder shared a message of resilience on his social media.
Acknowledging that this scenario was not the one hoped for after so much effort, Kessié made a point of praising the courage of his teammates, whom he called "brothers in arms." He also paid a heartfelt tribute to the Ivorian public, the essential driving force behind their journey: "You have been our strength."
Far from admitting defeat, the captain is already looking to the future. He highlighted the emergence of a "new golden generation" combining talent and humility. For the Elephants' leader, this setback is just a stepping stone: "We will learn from this defeat and come back stronger."
