The Urban Security Unit of the Kaffrine Central Police Station has just dismantled a group involved in cybercrime and privacy violations. The case, triggered by a complaint filed by a student on March 29, 2026, highlights the dangers associated with the use of social media.

The spiral of digital betrayal

It all started with a simple verbal altercation. The victim had shared, in complete secrecy, an intimate video with a close friend. Seeking revenge after an argument, the friend broke this bond of trust by sharing the video via the ephemeral mode of a messaging app.

Despite the message's supposedly "volatile" nature, several malicious recipients used technical tools to capture and massively spread the video on the web.

The legal response

Thanks to cybersecurity expertise, investigators were able to trace the entire sharing chain. The operation's outcome is conclusive:

1. 6 individuals identified and arrested.
2. Full confessions during interrogations regarding the collection and disclosure of data.
