AES/Mali : Lourde attaque contre un convoi pétrolier sur l’axe Sénégal-Bamako
Mali faces a new security and energy challenge. On January 29, a terrorist attack targeted tanker trucks in the west of the country, between Diboli and Kayes . This corridor is vital to the Malian economy, as it is the main entry point for fuel from Senegal.
The toll, still provisional, testifies to the violence of the assault:
The attack was claimed by the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) . After a period of relative calm, the terrorist group appears to be resuming its strategy of "economic blockade" in the southern and western regions.
The objective is clear: to paralyze logistical flows in order to suffocate Bamako. Until now, the deployment of military escorts for convoys had stabilized the supply of the capital, but this incident serves as a reminder of the fragility of this strategic corridor.
