Afrique du Sud : Expulsion immédiate pour le fils cadet de Robert Mugabe
Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe , son of the former Zimbabwean president, was sentenced on Wednesday, April 29, by a Johannesburg court. Implicated in a case of armed violence, he is now subject to deportation from South Africa.
Initially charged with attempted murder after an altercation injured a gardener at his Hyde Park home, the 28-year-old saw the charges evolve.
Judge Reiner Boshoff emphasized the defendant's "luck," noting that the victim had not been injured by his direct actions. The sentences are as follows:
| Accused | Conviction | Administrative measure |
| Bellarmine Mugabe | A fine of 600,000 rand (approx. €30,000) or 24 months in prison. | Immediate expulsion under police escort. |
| Tobias Matonhodze | Up to 3 years in prison (a sentence considered "lenient"). | Deportation after serving his sentence. |
Since Robert Mugabe's fall from power in 2017 and his death in 2019, his sons, Robert Jr. and Bellarmine, have regularly made headlines in the South African media. Known for their lavish lifestyle and nightlife in Johannesburg, this conviction marks a serious legal turning point for the youngest of the siblings.
