Good news for the arts community in Côte d'Ivoire. The Ivorian Copyright Office (BURIDA) is preparing to distribute 299,615,581 CFA francs to creators and rights holders. The announcement was made this Friday, June 12, 2026, by Dr. Ehouman Maxime, Director of Distribution, during a press conference at the institution's temporary headquarters in Cocody Angré.

Transfers and payments will officially begin on Monday, June 15, 2026 .

📊 Details of the figures and beneficiaries

For this June session, the overall budget is divided into two main categories of rights:

  1. Copyright fees: 195,339,865 FCFA
  2. Neighboring rights: 104,275,716 FCFA

In total, 2,766 beneficiaries will share this windfall, which comes from Mechanical Reproduction Rights (DRM), Occasional Sessions (OS) for the first quarter of 2026 (January to March), as well as revenue from ringing on hold (CRBT) collected from the operator Orange in September 2025.

Top earnings: The largest royalty check, exceeding 4 million FCFA , was awarded to a songwriter. Professionals in the dramatic arts (theater, film) also feature prominently in the top 5 recipients. Regarding related rights, maximum royalties range from 1.4 to 2 million FCFA .

📉 Revenue growth and stability

Comparing this amount to previous years for the same period reveals a stabilization of artists' income:

  1. June 2026: ~299.6 million FCFA
  2. June 2025: ~315 million FCFA
  3. June 2024: ~143 million FCFA

All disciplines are represented. Beyond music, the audiovisual, literary, visual and dramatic arts sectors have seen several of their cases regularized and payments made.

⚽ 2026 World Cup Fan Zones: BURIDA reminds everyone of the rules

Amid the excitement of the FIFA World Cup in the United States, BURIDA has taken a stand regarding the public broadcasting of music. Camara Ousmane, head of the occasional screenings department, has firmly reminded event promoters and fan zone managers of the regulations.

Key takeaways for organizers:

  1. Mandatory authorization: Any broadcasting of intellectual works during public gatherings requires the green light from BURIDA.
  2. Preferential rates: The institution has put in place reduced and adapted rate schedules to encourage compliance by promoters.

"Copyright is the artist's salary," Camara Ousmane emphasized, urging cultural civic responsibility so that the football festival also financially benefits those who bring excitement to the country.
