Burkina Faso : Recrudescence d'attaques coordonnées, le bilan s'alourdit
Burkina Faso experienced a bloody weekend marked by a series of attacks carried out by suspected jihadist groups. Between Thursday, February 12, and Saturday, February 14, several military detachments located in the north and east of the country were targeted, leaving behind a provisional death toll of at least ten.
The violence has manifested itself on several fronts, suggesting a possible concerted strategy by armed groups:
The impact of these attacks extends beyond national borders. Neighboring Ghana expressed concern after a convoy of Ghanaian traders was ambushed in Titao. The embassy in Ouagadougou is currently working to locate and identify its citizens involved.
For its part, the junta led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré maintains its policy of discretion, no longer systematically communicating on human tolls despite the persistence of the threat.
Despite promises to restore security made when the junta seized power, Burkina Faso remains mired in a spiral of violence.
