The Prefect of the Bénoué department, Oumarou Haman Wabi , has officially decreed the immediate resumption of educational activities after a two-week interruption following post-election tensions.

This decision follows an emergency meeting held this Friday, November 7, 2025 at the prefecture, aimed at developing a rapid and coordinated return-to-school strategy.

📝 Guidelines and General Mobilization

The administrative authority has called for a general mobilization of the educational community. Specific directives have been issued to ensure that classes effectively resume next Monday .

The meeting brought together key players in the sector:

  1. The heads of the departmental delegations of Basic Education and Secondary Education.
  2. All heads of educational establishments (public and private).

The prefectural guidelines emphasize several key points:

  1. Collective Consultation: Educational teams are called upon to collaborate closely with parent-teacher associations (PTAs) and local authorities for a rapid return to normal.
  2. Security Guarantee: The Prefect was keen to reassure parents of students regarding the implementation of reinforced security measures within and around schools.
  3. Supervision and Monitoring: Monitoring mechanisms will be activated to ensure the effective presence of teaching staff and the gradual return of all students.

Objective: To ensure educational continuity

The resumption of classes is considered an absolute priority by the local administration in order to prevent any significant delays in the annual school calendar. Prefect Wabi thus reaffirms the authorities' commitment to preserving educational continuity and to emphasizing the essential role of education in the development of the Bénoué department.
