After three weeks of worrying absence, Fanné Ehmat Gargam , second deputy mayor of Logone-Birni (Far North of Cameroon), has finally given sign of life. She reappeared on the night of January 24-25, 2026 in Kousseri, putting an end to the anxiety of her family and colleagues.

A nighttime denouement at Kousseri Hospital

The politician went to the emergency room of the Kousseri Regional Annex Hospital on her own. Contact was re-established thanks to her mother's phone number, which was given to the nurses. Her family, along with local authorities, immediately went to her bedside to check on her health.

An ongoing investigation and some unanswered questions

While her reappearance is a huge relief, the mystery remains. For now, Fanné Ehmat Gargam has stated that she is unable to discuss the details of her ordeal due to her state of shock. Authorities have officially opened an investigation to clarify the following points:

1. The exact circumstances of his abduction or disappearance.
2. The place where she was held for 20 days.
3. The identity of possible kidnappers.

A municipality in the midst of a period of turmoil

This return comes at a particularly difficult political time for the Logone-Birni town hall. Indeed, the municipality has been hit by two major blows in the space of a few days:

1. January 21, 2026: Death of Mayor Abakar Brahim (RDPC) following illness.
2. January 25, 2026: Reappearance of his second deputy, just four days after the mayor's funeral.
