Centrafrique : Vers une Assemblée au complet après la publication des résultats
After a delay of several weeks, the National Elections Authority (ANE) has finally unveiled the results of the second round of the legislative and partial elections of April 26, 2026. This announcement, which came on the night of May 9, marks a turning point for the second term of President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, whose composition of the future government will depend on the balance of power within the assembly.
Originally scheduled for early April, the publication of the results was stalled by a strike of IT workers at the data processing center. These employees were demanding two months of back pay. A financial agreement was eventually reached between the strikers and the electoral body, allowing the process to resume.
The parliamentary landscape is becoming clearer, although the political affiliation of many elected officials has not yet been officially detailed by the ANE:
While uncertainty remains regarding the dominance of the presidential majority or the opposition, a leading figure has entered Parliament: Anicet-Georges Dologuélé . The opposition leader and former presidential candidate won in Bocaranga 1 with 52% of the vote .
The major drawback of this election remains the blatant underrepresentation of women . The conclusion is undeniable:
Of the six candidates who made it to the second round, only one won a seat. In total, the National Assembly will have only 8 women out of 144 members , highlighting a persistent decline in gender parity in Central African political life.
