The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Congo has validated the results of the presidential election of March 15, 2026, confirming the re-election of the incumbent president, Denis Sassou Nguesso. According to the final results, he obtained approximately 95% of the vote, figures close to those announced in the provisional results.

At 82 years old, the head of state thus begins a new term at the helm of the country, continuing a political career marked by several decades in power. A major figure in national political life, he has led the country since 1979, with an interruption between 1992 and 1997.

The electoral process took place in a unique context, with the participation of several candidates, while some opposition parties and figures chose not to participate in the vote. Appeals were filed after the announcement of the provisional results, but these were reviewed and then rejected by the Constitutional Court, which thus upheld the final results.

This validation marks the end of the electoral process and opens a new political phase for the Republic of Congo. The authorities are now expected to outline the priorities for the next term, particularly in terms of economic and social development, in a context where the country faces several structural challenges.



The re-election of Denis Sassou Nguesso is thus part of institutional continuity, while attention now turns to the implementation of the public policies announced for the coming years.
