Congo : Dave Mafoula conteste la réélection de Denis Sassou N’Guesso devant la Cour constitutionnelle
Uphrem Dave Mafoula, an independent candidate who came third in last March's presidential election, has officially appealed to the Constitutional Court. He denounces "serious irregularities" that marred the election and contests the provisional results that give the incumbent president 94.82% of the vote.
For the leader of the Sovereignists party, the electoral process lacked transparency. "The truth of the ballot box was manipulated," asserts the candidate who garnered 1.03% of the vote. By filing this appeal, Dave Mafoula says he is acting out of responsibility towards the Congolese citizens. Despite his score, he remains calm and affirms his confidence in the impartiality of the justice system to restore the integrity of the vote.
