Coup d’État à Madagascar : l’Union africaine suspend le pays
The African Union announced on Wednesday the immediate suspension of Madagascar from its membership. This decision follows the military's seizure of power after the ouster of the disputed president, Andry Rajoelina, who was forced to flee the country.
The coup took place on October 14, following a motion of censure passed by Parliament. Colonel Michaël Randrianirina was designated head of state and is due to be sworn in on October 17 in Antananarivo.
