Drame de Tiné : L’État tchadien s’engage pour la vérité et l'apaisement

Following the tragedy caused by a drone in Tiné, a high-level government delegation visited the site on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. This mission led to an expanded meeting involving administrative authorities, traditional chiefs and representatives of the victims' families.

The challenge is threefold: to shed light on the circumstances of the tragedy, to restore confidence in the institutions and to guarantee the security of a tense border region.

A mobilization at the top of the security apparatus

The meeting, chaired by Major General Issakha Malloua Djamous , Minister of Defence, underscored the State's commitment to placing the protection of civilians at the heart of its priorities.

  1. The Ministry of Public Security: General Ali Ahmat Aghabache expressed the nation's grief, stating that every life lost is "an unacceptable loss." He also emphasized that President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno is personally monitoring the situation.
  2. The army in search of transparency: The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Abakar Abdelkrim , has pledged that the investigations will be completed quickly in order to identify the shortcomings and adjust the security arrangements at the borders to prevent any recurrence.

Dialogue with the community: between pain and the expectation of justice

The success of this mission hinges on collaboration with local stakeholders. Traditional leaders welcomed this initiative by the government, seeing it as a sign of respect and consideration. They pledged to work towards social cohesion and to prevent any escalation of violence.

The families' wait: For the victims' loved ones, the time has come to seek answers. Their representatives have formally requested an acceleration of the proceedings so that responsibilities can be clearly established.

Towards a consolidation of trust

This visit marks a crucial step for the Chadian government. By choosing the path of transparency and direct dialogue, the state is attempting to transform a tragedy into a lever for shared responsibility, aiming to achieve lasting stability in this sensitive area.
