France : Achraf Hakimi renvoyé devant la justice criminelle pour une affaire de viol
French justice confirmed on Friday, June 19, that Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi will be sent to trial before the Hauts-de-Seine departmental criminal court in a case of alleged rape dating back to 2023.
In a statement, the Versailles Court of Appeal indicated that the investigations carried out during the preliminary inquiry and judicial investigation established the existence of "sufficient evidence" justifying the Moroccan international's appearance before the criminal court. The trial date has not yet been set.
Indicted since March 2023, the Paris Saint-Germain player is accused by a young woman who claims she was raped at his home after meeting him on Instagram. According to her account, she went to the footballer's house in a vehicle he had arranged before the alleged incident occurred.
Achraf Hakimi, who has always rejected these accusations as "false," reacted shortly after the appeals court's decision. On the social network X, the captain of the Moroccan national team stated that he was "eagerly awaiting" the trial, adding: "Finally, I'll be able to speak."
For her part, the plaintiff's lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo, welcomed a decision which, according to her, brings "relief and hope" to her client after several years of legal proceedings.
In a recent interview with Mediapart, the plaintiff, identified by a pseudonym, explained that she wanted a trial in order to have her version of events heard and to have her word recognized.
This court decision marks a major new step in a high-profile case involving one of the most iconic figures in Moroccan football .
