Strengthening Tax and Customs Cooperation for Increased Efficiency

A major technical meeting was held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at the Oloumi Customs Hotel, marking a significant step in the collaboration between the Directorate General of Customs and Indirect Taxes (DGDDI) and the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI).

In accordance with the directives of the Ministerial Work Plan, the main objective of this meeting was to strengthen the synergy between the two administrations, an imperative in the fight against fraud , irregularities , and tax evasion .

Strategic Objective: More Effective Joint Controls

Held under the eloquent theme, "For enhanced effectiveness of joint controls and improved tax and customs management," this working session laid the groundwork for optimized collaboration. Discussions focused on essential pillars for successful joint action:

1. Improving data exchange : Facilitating the flow and quality of information between the DGDDI and the DGI.
2. Harmonization of methods and coordination : Ensuring a consistent approach and coordinated actions on the ground.
3. Creation of a shared regulatory framework : Defining clear and common rules.
4. Development of common models and procedures : Establishing a precise operational framework (roles, schedules, tools).

Transparency and Revenue Mobilization

This dynamic is part of a logic of transparency , increased efficiency , and maximum mobilization of public revenue . The Gabonese authorities are thus seeking to strengthen trust and complementarity between the tax and customs structures.

The participants affirmed their commitment to making this collaboration a concrete lever for good fiscal and customs governance, essential to supporting the economic and social development of Gabon.
