Gabon : Le conseiller spécial du Président incarcéré pour corruption présumée
In Gabon, Alain Simplice Boungoueres, special advisor to the President in charge of Public Works and former presidential candidate, was placed under arrest warrant on October 28, 2025 and taken to Libreville Central Prison.
He is being prosecuted for "passive corruption" and "extortion", following an investigation that revealed suspicious financial transactions and alleged attempts to obstruct an internal audit at the Presidential Palace.
This arrest is part of the campaign to moralize public life launched by President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma, who advocates a policy of "zero tolerance" towards corruption.
