After months of diplomatic tensions, relations between Algiers and Niamey are regaining their former strength. The official visit of General Abdourahamane Tiani to Algiers on Monday, February 16, marks the end of an "abnormal period of chill," in the words of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune . This summit concluded with a major announcement: the concrete relaunch of the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project.
The thaw in relations between the two neighbors will materialize with the launch of construction on the Niger section of the pipeline. Technical operations will begin just after Ramadan (around March 19).
