Guinée: Le Margis Sékou Traoré, gendarme à Tarambaly (Labé), écroué suite à de graves accusations

Margis Sékou Traoré , a gendarme stationed in the rural commune of Tarambaly , Labé prefecture, was placed in detention following a series of serious accusations made by citizens who perceived him as a threat to the local population. He is notably accused of attempted rape, verbal aggression and death threats with a firearm .

Faced with these actions, the authorities arrested him and he was imprisoned. The gendarme will have to answer for his actions in court in the coming days, especially since an alleged victim has decided to file a complaint for attempted rape.

According to information gathered by our local correspondent, the accusations made by the population against Margis Sékou Traoré include attempted rape, verbal assaults and threats of death by firearm.

The story of the alleged victim

Oumou Salamata Diallo , one of the alleged victims, gave her testimony about the attempted rape she says she escaped. She said the police officer first showed up on Saturday, October 18, 2025, during the day, at her place of business in the presence of other people.

"Last Saturday, October 18, 2025, he came to find me where I do my small business. I wasn't alone. There were other citizens there too. When he came, he was saying things I didn't understand because he doesn't speak Poular," she explains. A young man named Hady asked her to leave. Before leaving, Margis Traoré allegedly offered 300,000 Guinean francs to another woman there for sex, an offer she refused.

He reportedly returned between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., after the other people had left. "He suddenly came in and found me in the shop, trying to rape me. I resisted and grabbed his penis before forcibly pushing him away." To scare him off, she faked a phone call with the sub-prefect. The police officer then left, threatening her: "He's going to use bandits to come and attack me." During the altercation, her phone fell in the shop, evidence the victim intends to brandish to support her future complaint.

Armed threats and intervention by authorities

Later that same night, Margis Sékou Traoré reportedly went to a maquis, where he threatened the customers there with a pistol. It was there that he was finally arrested. Sadio Diallo , another citizen, testified to the scene: "It was a motorcycle driver who dropped him off here. When he got off, he started shouting and threatening us with his pistol." After one of his relatives criticized him for his lack of responsibility and respect for his status, the citizens alerted the president of the special delegation.

After an unsuccessful attempt at telephone mediation by the latter, the sub-prefect was contacted and alerted the military hierarchy. A security vehicle was dispatched from Labé to take him away and place him in custody.

Contacted, the sub-prefect of Tarambaly confirmed that Margis Sékou Traoré was under the responsibility of the gendarmerie and indicated that he had reported the situation to his own superiors. The president of the special delegation of Tarambaly , although confirming that he had been informed of the alleged blunders, referred to the sub-prefect for any official reaction.
