An act of unprecedented violence shook the city of Kindia on the night of Friday to Saturday, October 25, 2025. Maïmouna Diallo, a woman in her fifties, was found with her throat cut in her room in the civil servants' complex of Foulaya, part of the Damakania sub-prefecture.

Originally from Porédaka, in the Mamou prefecture, the victim worked as a market gardening technician at the Foulaya Agronomic Research Center (CRAF). According to initial investigations and testimonies collected, the murder was allegedly perpetrated by a Sierra Leonean couple whom she had generously hosted.

Fatoumata Moumini Diallo, a nurse at the Ignace Deen University Hospital in Conakry and the deceased's daughter, gave a poignant account. She explained that her mother had initially housed the couple in a small annex hut. However, due to watertightness issues, Maïmouna Diallo had them move into a room adjoining hers, as the couple had to do work for her.

The tragedy allegedly took place after dinner, shared by the victim and her hosts. "Later that night, they woke her up to execute her because of her motorcycle, which she had recently received from her service. This motorcycle had not even been used for a month," laments the victim's daughter.

She adds a disturbing detail: on the day before the crime, the young Sierra Leonean man allegedly insisted that Maïmouna Diallo put petrol in the motorcycle. The victim then allegedly asked him to withdraw 60,000 GNF from her account to purchase fuel.

"He brought the motorcycle back after refueling, then they waited until nightfall to carry out the act. They first beat her with pestles before slitting her throat. Then they fled with the motorcycle and her phone," says Fatoumata Moumini Diallo, still in shock.

The devastated family is making an urgent appeal to the authorities. "We hope that these criminals will be found and punished according to the law," concluded Maïmouna Diallo's daughter. Law enforcement is now searching for the fugitive couple.
