Kinshasa : baisse de 50 % du prix d’un œuf sur les marchés

Kinshasa, October 19, 2025 (ACP) – A 50% drop in the price of an egg was observed in the markets of Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), during the period from October 6 to 16, 2025, falling from 1,000 FC to 500 FC, the ACP noted during a survey.

" For more than two weeks, an egg that cost 1,000 FC is now selling for 500 FC. And the eggs we call "broken," which were 500 FC, are now 400 FC ," said Barthélemy Wanzambi, an egg seller in Place Victoire in the commune of Kalamu.

According to him, this decline is due to the appreciation of the Congolese franc on all markets in Kinshasa in particular, and in the Democratic Republic of Congo in general.

" As the dollar has fallen, it has also allowed other products to fall, because our customers are happy with them ," he added.

He clarified that this is not a promotion, but a real drop in the price of a tray of eggs, which was 15,000 FC previously. Currently, it is 13,000 FC. , he indicated
