Kinshasa : Ultimatum de 48 heures pour démanteler une kermesse illégale à Bandalungwa

The Governor of Kinshasa, Daniel Bumba, has taken a firm stance. He is demanding that the mayor of the Bandalungwa commune immediately demolish and evacuate a fair that has been set up illegally within the grounds of the town hall.

This formal directive was conveyed via correspondence dated June 9, 2026, by the provincial Minister of Infrastructure and Urban Planning, Alain Tshilungu. The message is clear: in Kinshasa, the protection of administrative infrastructure is now non-negotiable.

A strict ultimatum under penalty of sanctions

The provincial government has launched a rigorous countdown:

  1. Deadline given: 48 hours to the mayor to implement the measure.
  2. In case of an overrun: The provincial executive will intervene automatically.
  3. Financial consequences: The demolition costs will be entirely borne by the organizers of this illegal occupation.
  4. Sanctions: Administrative or legal proceedings are not excluded for those who defy urban authority.

The local administration is paralyzed

For Minister Alain Tshilungu, this situation goes beyond a simple celebration. The setup of this fair:

  1. Compromises the site's public service mission.
  2. It jeopardizes the safety of municipal employees and users.
  3. It paralyzes the daily operations of the town hall, the heart of local administration.

Daniel Bumba draws a "red line" against anarchy

By targeting Bandalungwa, the Governor is sending a stark warning to all municipalities in the capital. Under his administration, the illegal occupation of public space will no longer be tolerated, even under the guise of popular events.

The new doctrine of the provincial executive: Restore the authority of the State, protect public assets and secure civil servants.

This local action aligns more broadly with the President of the Republic's vision. Kinshasa is currently engaged in a vast campaign to clean up and clear public spaces (roads, avenues, green spaces). The ultimate goal remains the same: to restore the image of "Kinshasa the beautiful" through a zero-tolerance policy towards lawlessness.
