Le Capitaine Ibrahim Traoré Appelle les Afrodescendants au Combat pour la Dignité de l'Afrique
Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, recently met with 700 people of African descent from the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean. During this meeting, he reaffirmed the pan-African scope of Burkina Faso's struggle and encouraged the diaspora to join it.
President Traoré emphasized that Burkina Faso's current struggle is a "battle of endurance" whose ultimate goal is the "real and total liberation of Black people." He stressed the continental dimension of this commitment.
“We are not fighting for Burkina Faso alone, we are fighting for Africa. We are fighting for Black people. We are fighting for the dignity of Africa. We are fighting for the well-being of our people.”
Captain Traoré expressed confidence in the continent's future, despite historical adversities, declaring: "Seeing Africa wake up is a nightmare for some, but Africa will wake up!"
Recognizing Afro-descendants as the "700 Ambassadors of Burkina Faso" , President Traoré took concrete steps to facilitate their settlement and economic involvement:
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao paid tribute to Captain Traoré's vision. She recognized him as the first contemporary Head of State to have launched an official appeal for the African diaspora to "return to their roots."
President Traoré concluded by reiterating his appeal to Afro-descendants and all peoples who cherish peace and freedom to actively support the fight against imperialism .
