Le Niger suspend la diffusion et la publication de 9 médias étrangers dont France 24 et Jeune Afrique
Yesterday, Friday, May 8, 2026, the National Communication Observatory (ONC) of Niger suspended the broadcasting, publication and relaying of programs from France 24, RFI, France Afrique Média, LSI Africa, AFP, TV5 Monde, TFI Info, Jeune Afrique and Mediapart throughout the entire national territory.
According to the ONC's decision, the dissemination and recurring publication of content from these foreign media outlets is likely to "seriously jeopardize public order, national unity, social cohesion and the stability of the institutions of the Republic".
The suspension applies to satellite packages, cable networks, digital platforms, websites, mobile applications, and audiovisual and digital broadcasting relays operating in Mali. Package distributors, audiovisual operators, internet service providers, and broadcasting platforms are required to take all necessary technical steps to ensure the immediate implementation of the decision, according to the National Broadcasting Office (ONC).
