Le Préfet du Mfoundi Retire les Autorisations à Trois Associations Sportives au Cameroun

The Prefect of the Mfoundi department, Emmanuel Mariel Djikdent , issued an order on November 19, 2025 withdrawing the declaration receipt from three sports associations based in Yaoundé.

This decision comes as crucial elections for the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) are scheduled, in an already tense context between the Federation and the government. Some of these associations had publicly taken a stand in this dispute.

Associations and Reasons for Withdrawal

The order concerns the following entities, with specific reasons invoked by the administrative authority:

Association Date of Receipt Main Reasons for Withdrawal
Association of former Indomitable Lions (Alifoot) September 25, 2025 Internal dissensions; overlap of object with the Cafoot.
Dynamic association of former national team footballers December 16, 2012 Trade union activities.
Collective of football stakeholders (Cafoot) November 14, 2025 Introduction of a contested power of attorney; union activity; misappropriation of property; interference in the activities of Fecafoot .

Cafoot's Interference in the Fecafoot Electoral Process

The Cafoot case appears to be directly linked to the ongoing electoral tensions. In anticipation of the Fecafoot elective general assembly scheduled for November 29, 2025 in Mbankomo, the group appealed to the sub-prefect of that locality.

  1. Cafoot's Action: The collective has asked the administrative authority of Mbankomo to cancel the receipt for the public meeting granted for holding the elective general assembly.
  2. The Argument: Cafoot relied on a previous request from the Minister of Sports to postpone the holding of this assembly. The association urged the Mbankomo authorities to comply with this "imperative" ministerial order to "avoid serious risks" to the integrity of its administrative district, suggesting that "sports stakeholders are determined to obstruct" what it calls an "electoral farce."

However, Cafoot's request will no longer have any legal effect. The withdrawal of its receipt by the Prefect of Mfoundi effectively nullifies its legal existence and, consequently, its ability to exert legitimate pressure on the process leading to the Fecafoot elections headed by Samuel Eto'o.
