Législatives en RCA : Le parti présidentiel domine les résultats provisoires

The National Elections Authority (ANE) published the provisional results of the legislative elections of December 28, 2025, on Thursday, January 8, in Bangui. The United Hearts Movement (MCU) , in power, emerges as the dominant force in this future legislature, although the process is contested by part of the political class.

Key figures from the first round

The election, marked by a turnout of 52.43% , determined the fate of 74 of the 144 seats now held in the National Assembly:

  1. MCU (Power): 50 seats (i.e., more than a third of the chamber from the first round).
  2. Independents: 15 seats (including many MCU dissidents).
  3. Power allies: 9 seats distributed among six parties.
  4. Women elected: 8 winners at this stage.

Many members of the government are entering Parliament. For MCU leaders, the objective is clear: to obtain an absolute majority in the second round.

A weakened and protesting opposition

The outgoing political landscape is marked by strong contrasts:

  1. High-profile eliminations: Two former Prime Ministers, Henri-Marie Dondra and Firmin Ngrébada , were defeated in the first round. The latter denounces "serious irregularities".
  2. Runoff: Opposition leader Anicet-Georges Dologuélé will have to contest a second round.
  3. Boycott: Although some of its members were elected as independents, Martin Ziguélé's MLPC officially boycotted the vote.

Between transparency and accusations of fraud

While the National Elections Authority (ANE) praised the election as transparent and free of major incidents, discontent is growing among independents and the opposition. They are denouncing a flawed organization and instances of fraud.

Next step: Candidates now have 5 days to file their appeals with the Constitutional Council.

A reminder of the issues

This election follows the presidential election in which Faustin-Archange Touadéra was re-elected in the first round with 76.15% of the vote (provisional results). The new National Assembly, whose term has been extended from 5 to 7 years according to the new Constitution, will have 144 members.

The second round will have to be organised in 67 constituencies , mainly to decide between candidates from the government and independents.
