Rolin Bemitombo reportedly tried to resist, triggering a scuffle. He was stabbed in the heart, and the robbers managed to steal two million ariary, according to a police source.
The entire scene was filmed by surveillance cameras.
Seriously injured, Rolin Bemitombo tried to get up and walk, but collapsed a few meters away. His wife, who suffered injuries to her hand, ear, and foot, witnessed the attack.
After about twenty minutes of waiting, with no vehicle stopping to help them, a taxi finally agreed to take them to the emergency department of the CHU-HJRA, accompanied by a relative. Sadly, Rolin Bemitombo breathed his last near Anosy, shortly before reaching the hospital. He was already in cardiac arrest upon arrival, according to medical staff. CCTV footage confirms that the attack took place at 9 p.m. and that he arrived at the hospital lifeless around 9:30 p.m.
The perpetrators fled through the surrounding alleys and remain unaccounted for at this time. Police have launched an investigation to identify and arrest the perpetrators of this murder. Witness statements are being collected to support the family's complaint.
The victim's body was taken to the morgue. Family members may pay their respects at 67Ha Nord-Ouest, pending the funeral. Rolin Bemitombo left Anivorano in the hope of ensuring a better life for his family. An appeal for donations has been launched to help repatriate his body to his home village.
