Madagascar : Le détecteur de mensonges, nouveau filtre pour les futurs ministres

In Antananarivo, the transitional government has taken an unprecedented step in the fight against corruption. Colonel Michaël Randrianirina , in power since the overthrow of Andry Rajoelina last October, has instituted a mandatory polygraph test for all candidates for ministerial positions.

"We are not looking for someone 100% flawless, but more than 60%," the head of state said.

An elimination test before the interview

The method is intended to be radical: a lie detector serves as the first filter. Accompanied by a sworn expert, this examination is eliminatory . Only candidates whose integrity is validated by the machine will be eligible for an interview with the President and his new Prime Minister.

This measure comes amid a complete overhaul of the executive branch:

  1. The government was dissolved last week.
  2. The entire presidential cabinet was dismissed .
  3. Social emergency : A population of 32 million people demanding functional public services and an end to impunity.

Mamitiana Rajaonarison: An anti-corruption expert at the Prime Minister’s Office

To lead this "dream team," Colonel Randrianirina appointed Mamitiana Rajaonarison as Prime Minister. Officially sworn in on March 16 at the Mahazoarivo Palace, this technocrat has a profile perfectly suited to the mission:

  1. Former gendarmerie officer and civil administrator.
  2. Former director of SAMIFIN (financial intelligence).
  3. An expert recognized by international partners for his rigor.

Upon taking office, the new head of government emphasized his desire to move from a culture of activities to a culture of immediate results , thus responding to the impatience of a Malagasy street exasperated by endemic poverty.

Between hope and skepticism

While Mamitiana Rajaonarison's integrity is praised—the President recalling that he resigned from the gendarmerie because he refused to compromise his principles—doubts remain. Some observers point to the silence of SAMIFIN, under his leadership, regarding sensitive cases from the Rajoelina era (particularly those involving Mamy Ravatomanga and Romy Voos).

The challenge of the transition Objective set
Transparency Using the polygraph to clean up the state.
Calendar Elections to be held within two years.
Efficiency Producing tangible results "day and night".

The actual effectiveness of the lie detector in forming a government remains to be proven, but the signal sent is clear: the new regime is counting on technological and moral rupture to regain the trust of citizens.
