Madinani : face aux pénuries de carburant, le marché noir de l'essence prospère
In Madinani, the repeated fuel shortages at the town's only two gas stations are a boon for informal resellers. This situation exasperates residents, who are forced to pay exorbitant prices to get around.
Faced with chronic shortages of unleaded gasoline and diesel, motorists, transporters, and motorcyclists have no choice but to turn to street vending to avoid paralyzing their businesses.
Fuel, now sold in bottles at major intersections and along the city's main roads, is going for 1,000 FCFA per liter . A hefty price for consumers, especially considering the official rate set by the government is 875 FCFA nationwide.
Why such a shortage? According to local stakeholders, current logistics are no longer keeping pace with local growth.
"The Star Oil station is only supplied by tanker truck twice a week. Demand has become so high at all levels that a shortage is mathematically inevitable," explains Moussa Doumbia, a local retailer.
As a result, clandestine resellers have been fully booked for several weeks and are seeing their customer base explode as the tanks of official stations empty.
For the population, this ongoing cost increase is beginning to weigh heavily on professional and family budgets. In addition to disrupting daily commutes, this energy crisis is weakening the local economy.
Users are making an urgent appeal to the managers of the two service stations in Madinani to increase the frequency of their deliveries and finally guarantee a stable and continuous distribution.
