Mali : la population éprouvée par le blocus, le gouvernement reste inflexible face aux groupes jihadistes
Less than two weeks after the jihadist attacks that targeted seven localities, the Malian authorities reaffirmed their refusal to negotiate with the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM), affiliated with Al-Qaeda.
Speaking to the diplomatic corps in Bamako, Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop assured that the government is not considering any discussions with the armed groups that it holds responsible for the violence in the country.
While some political actors advocate for dialogue, Bamako is opting for a military response. New Russian equipment has reportedly been recently received to support operations, particularly in the north where retaking Kidal remains a strategic objective.
At the same time, the blockade imposed by the jihadists continues to disrupt several road routes, leaving hundreds of vehicles and travelers still stranded across the country.
