Nigeria : au moins 162 morts dans un massacre attribué à Boko Haram
In Nigeria , a particularly violent attack left at least 162 people dead on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 , in the village of Woro . This is one of the deadliest incidents recorded in the country since the beginning of the year.
According to authorities, heavily armed men stormed the town, opening fire on residents and setting homes ablaze. The death toll, still provisional, includes numerous civilian casualties, including women and children, while several wounded were evacuated to nearby medical facilities.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu strongly condemned what he called a "barbaric act." He attributed the massacre to the jihadist group Boko Haram and ordered the immediate deployment of the army to the area to secure the population and hunt down the attackers.
This attack illustrates once again the persistent deterioration of the security situation in several regions of Nigeria, where armed groups continue to target civilians. Authorities assure that enhanced measures are underway to prevent further violence and restore security in the affected areas.
