Présidentielle en Guinée : pourquoi le nouveau code électoral risque de favoriser le candidat du pouvoir
This voluminous 153-page document, promulgated on September 27 by Mamadi Doumbouya and of which Jeune Afrique has obtained a copy, will cause some to grind their teeth. Some of its provisions are indeed likely to facilitate a possible candidacy of the transitional president.
While the draft of the new Constitution had been circulated across the country with a view to its adoption by referendum on September 21, the new Guinean electoral code is currently circulating under the radar. Adopted and promulgated very quickly, it nevertheless took more than two weeks to discover its contents.
