RDC : Kinshasa dénonce une « agression manifeste » du Rwanda et déplore 1 500 morts civils
The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo raised its voice on Thursday, formally accusing the Rwandan army of killing more than 1,500 civilians since the start of its offensive in December. According to Kinshasa, Rwandan forces are operating alongside M23 rebels in the strategic Uvira region, on the border with Burundi.
The human toll is accompanied by a major humanitarian crisis, with more than 500,000 displaced persons recorded. Congolese authorities are warning of an expansion of the conflict southward, reporting the arrival of Rwandan reinforcements targeting the towns of Fizi and Kalemie. Although Kigali denies any involvement, the United States and UN experts have recently denounced the extent of Rwandan military support for the M23.
