Saisie Majeure au Niger : Plus de 8 500 Bâtons de Dynamite Interceptés par la Douane
The vigilance of the Nigerien customs authorities has led to a significant seizure in the fight against terrorism and illicit trafficking in the Sahel.
On Monday, during a routine check carried out by the General Directorate of Customs, the Niamey-Route Customs Office intercepted 8,567 sticks of dynamite . These explosives were cleverly concealed within a shipment of imported goods.
This discovery comes in a regional context where the security situation remains extremely worrying. Countries in the Sahel region, particularly Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Chad, are maintaining a high level of alert to prevent any suspicious activity.
According to Lieutenant-Colonel Fatimata Salifou Marafa, Head of the Bureau, the intercepted quantity could have been used by malicious groups for terrorist purposes . She also reiterated that the use of this type of material is strictly prohibited by regulations.
This seizure is all the more noteworthy as it would be the second operation of this scale since the beginning of 2025 .
Colonel Rabiou Gouzaye, Director of Customs Investigations, warmly commended the professionalism of the officers involved. He emphasized the crucial importance of Customs services within the Sahel Alliance (SAA) region in curbing the trafficking of illicit goods and contributing to regional stability.
