Santé Publique en RDC : Entre progression du choléra et recul du Mpox
During the 75th meeting of the Council of Ministers on January 23, Dr. Roger Kamba presented figures that highlight the fragility of the current health situation in the DRC.
Cholera is gaining ground. The cholera epidemic is accelerating at a rate deemed "alarming" by authorities. With a nearly 22% increase in suspected cases in one week, the case fatality rate remains at 0.5%. In Kinshasa, the situation is becoming tense: Cholera Treatment Centers (CTCs) are seeing a surge in patients, requiring immediate logistical intervention.
Hope on the Mpox front: Unlike cholera, the Mpox epidemic is showing signs of slowing down. The number of new suspected cases has halved , a trend that nevertheless needs to be confirmed by rigorous medical monitoring in the affected areas.
