Sénégal : 13 migrants clandestins interpellés à la plage de Soumbédioune
In the early hours of Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at around 2:00 AM, Senegalese police thwarted an attempt at illegal emigration. Alerted by suspicious activity, officers from the Medina district police station arrested 13 would-be migrants on Soumbédioune beach.
According to police sources, the group had gathered near the Soumbédioune cemetery, carrying their luggage. They were waiting for a pirogue that was to take them clandestinely to Spain.

The questioning of the suspects has advanced the investigation. Two individuals, identified as members of the organizing network, have been arrested. They revealed that the boat's captain resides in the Medina district.
The 13 migrants were transferred to the National Division for Combating Migrant Smuggling and Related Practices (DNLT) , which took over the investigation in order to dismantle the rest of the network.
