Sénégal/Sédhiou : La police met en échec un trafic de drogue à l'approche de la Korité
The Regional Narcotics Brigade (BRS) of Sédhiou, a unit of the OCRTIS (Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking), achieved a major success this Saturday, March 21, 2026, by seizing 80 kg of Indian hemp . The operation took place in Niadième, a locality situated about fifteen kilometers from Marsassoum.
Alerted by operational intelligence, law enforcement was on high alert. The traffickers were clearly counting on the flurry of preparations for Korité (Eid al-Fitr) to deceive the vigilance of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS). They hadn't counted on the constant mobilization of officers in the field.
Around 3:00 AM, the surveillance system spotted a motorcycle traveling at high speed. Despite warnings, the driver attempted to force his way through. The police immediately responded.
A search of the six bags left at the scene revealed 80 one-kilogram blocks of Indian hemp, of the "green" variety. The drugs, as well as the motorcycle (a TVS brand), were placed under seal.
Status of the investigation: The search continues actively to identify and capture the fugitive.
Call for vigilance: The National Police remind the public that it remains committed to the safety of citizens. It encourages the public to report any suspicious behavior by calling the toll-free number: 800 00 17 00 .
