Tchad : Vers une meilleure protection sociale des éleveurs grâce au Registre Social Unifié
Under the chairmanship of the Minister of Livestock, a crucial step was taken this Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in N'Djamena. The National Institute of Statistics, Economic and Demographic Studies ( INSEED ) officially released the results of the registration of pastoral and agro-pastoral households.
Implemented with technical and financial support from PRAPS 2 TD (Regional Project to Support Pastoralism in the Sahel), this operation aims to break the administrative isolation of livestock farmers. The key figures presented by INSEED demonstrate the scale of the work accomplished:
According to the national coordinator of PRAPS 2 TD, Yacoub Ibrahim Djouma, this initiative is part of the project's mission to improve access to social and civil registration for mobile populations. The ultimate goal is to enable these often vulnerable households to benefit from aid programs and public services.
"This document must become a national reference for understanding and addressing the vulnerability of pastoralists." — Minister of Livestock
While commending the quality of the report, the Minister instructed the technical teams to incorporate the latest recommendations to finalize the document. He particularly emphasized his commitment to ensuring no one is left behind, suggesting that the survey be extended to areas not yet covered by the PRAPS (Regional Plan for the Prevention of Occupational Risks) in order to create a comprehensive and reliable national database .
