The world of education in Togo is in mourning. An incident of unprecedented violence claimed the life of a teacher on January 11, 2026, at the Dodomé Public Primary School (EPP), located in the Golfe 3 commune.

The story of the tragedy

The tragedy occurred on the sidelines of a sporting event held on the school grounds. According to authorities, a group of youths attempted to enter the field by climbing the school walls, deliberately ignoring the main gate, which was open.

The teacher, accompanied by the school's security guard, tried to intervene to enforce the safety instructions. It was then that the group reacted with extreme violence, targeting the two men with stones and other projectiles.

1. The victim: Severely injured in the head, the teacher did not survive his injuries despite being urgently evacuated to a medical center.
2. The guard: Injured during the attack, he is currently receiving medical treatment.

The authorities' firm response

In light of the seriousness of the events, the Ministries of Security, National Education and Justice issued a joint statement condemning this "unacceptable" act.
