As part of its ongoing fight against organized crime and urban insecurity, the Togolese National Gendarmerie has achieved a major success. A targeted operation, conducted on the night of May 25, 2026, thwarted an imminent robbery in the Limousine district of Lomé.

An effective surveillance operation based on intelligence

It all started thanks to precise intelligence reporting suspicious movements of armed individuals coming from Kovié (Zio Prefecture). Immediately mobilized, the Lomé Research Brigade and Anti-Gang Brigade began tailing the suspects.

The operation culminated around 11:45 p.m. with the arrest of four individuals. They were found inside and in front of a house identified as their headquarters.

Profile of suspects and seized material

The four men arrested, all of Togolese nationality and aged between 22 and 36, resided between Togo and Ghana:

1. K. Moses (22 years old) : Driver, resident of Accra.
2. A. Koffi (22 years old) : Motorcycle taxi driver, resident of Kovié.
3. A. Komi (30 years old) : Farmer, residing in Kovié.
4. F. Emmanuel (36 years old) : Electronic device repairman, residing in Djidjolé.

During the search of the premises, law enforcement seized an arsenal and logistical equipment:

A mystical plan and cross-border complicity

Initial findings from the hearing revealed that the gang was targeting an individual who had recently returned from Europe . The criminal network, composed of a total of eight individuals operating in pairs, benefited from well-established accomplices in Togo and Ghana.

Continuation of the procedure and a call for vigilance

The four suspects have been taken into custody and will be brought before the prosecutor. The investigation is actively continuing to track down and apprehend the four other accomplices who are still at large.

The National Gendarmerie warmly commended the public's cooperation. It reiterated its call for vigilance and urged every citizen to immediately report any suspicious or unusual behavior to the defense and security forces in order to maintain public safety.
