Transition énergétique : 30 experts camerounais formés au solaire photovoltaïque
Cameroon has taken another step in its strategy to promote green energy. Since May 11, 2026 , the Ministry of Water and Energy (MINEE) has been organizing an intensive training session in Yaoundé focused on mastering photovoltaic solar systems.
This program, which takes place at the Solar Technology Application Resource Centre (STAR-C) , is the result of close collaboration between the Cameroonian government and the International Solar Alliance (ISA) . The objective is clear: to equip the country with a highly qualified local workforce to reduce dependence on foreign expertise.
For Minister Gaston Eloundou Essomba , the issue goes beyond mere technology. By training these specialists, the Ministry of Water and Energy (MINEE) is preparing the ground for a massive deployment of solar solutions in rural and peri-urban areas.
The challenge: To guarantee sustainable access to electricity while accelerating the national energy transition through reliable and locally maintained installations.
This initiative marks a concrete acceleration of Cameroon's energy policy, positioning the country as an active participant in the solar revolution in Central Africa.
