Côte d’Ivoire : le sucre face au défi climatique – la filière se réinvente !

The Ivorian sugar industry is entering a new era. The 2025-2026 campaign officially kicked off on October 27 in Badikaha, Hambol, under the leadership of the Minister of State for Agriculture, Kobénan Kouassi Adjoumani. The objective: to achieve a record harvest while tackling climate change .

This year, SUCAF-CI is targeting 1.17 million tonnes of sugarcane and 120,000 tonnes of sugar , with a clear strategy: to produce more, better and locally. After a previous season marked by late rains and cane diseases, the company is banking on sustainable agricultural practices , the use of ecological fertilizers and modern technologies to boost yields.

But production is only part of the challenge. SUCAF-CI is also calling for a new contract plan with the government to modernize its infrastructure and secure the sector over the long term. This approach places Côte d'Ivoire on the path to food sovereignty and a sugar industry that is more resilient to climate change.

In summary: Ivorian sugar is reinventing itself , between production ambition and adaptation to environmental challenges. A campaign that promises to mark a historic turning point for the sector.
