Cap sur l'émergence : Kalil Konaté veut professionnaliser l'artisanat ivoirien
During a visit to the National Chamber of Trades of Ivory Coast (CNMCI), the Minister of Trade, Industry and Handicrafts, Kalil Konaté , slammed his fist on the table: handicrafts must no longer be the poor relation of the economy, but a robust and structured engine of growth.
Despite its enormous size, the sector suffers from a lack of institutional recognition. The minister cited some unequivocal figures:
However, this vital force remains largely trapped in the informal sector. The objective is now clear: to transform this raw potential into measurable, sustainable, and traceable wealth.
To modernize the sector, Kalil Konaté is relying on a strategy focused on performance and innovation:
The minister emphasized a radical change in approach. No more waiting: he advocates co-management and co-financing .
"Any well-planned project finances itself," the minister insisted.
He notably lamented that the CNMCI had been without its own headquarters for 30 years. In response, he set a significant challenge: to provide the institution with a modern headquarters within three years . Simultaneously, abandoned industrial zones and villages must be revitalized using economically viable models.
Kalil Konaté calls for complete synergy between the ministry (policy designer) and the CNMCI (operational arm). By establishing a culture of transparency and continuity , he intends to build a system capable of withstanding institutional changes and guaranteeing a stable future for artisans in Côte d'Ivoire.
