On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the city of Abidjan hosted the certificate award ceremony for an ambitious pilot program. The result of a partnership between Codinorm (the national standards body) and the FDFP (Vocational Training Development Fund), this initiative has strengthened the skills of 41 employees from various industrial sectors.

A dramatic increase in compliance

The goal of this metrology training—the science of measurement—was to radically transform business practices. The results speak for themselves:

1. Compliance rate: Increased from 34% in 2024 to a range of 70 to 75% in 2026.
2. Objective: To make measurement instruments more reliable in order to guarantee products and services that meet international standards (ISO).

A shared investment for excellence

The total cost of the operation amounts to 44.7 million FCFA . This financing reflects a commitment to public-private co-investment.

1. 24.7 million FCFA provided by the FDFP.
2. Codinorm invested 20 million FCFA .

“This project demonstrates the willingness of stakeholders to co-invest in skills development for a real transformation of industrial practices,” stressed Koumassou Modeste , representing the Director General of the FDFP.

An intensive educational program

The program, spread over six months (i.e., 576 hours of work), combined theory and practice:

1. Training phase (2 months): Intensive learning of standards and techniques.
2. Coaching phase (4 months): Personalized follow-up directly on production sites.

What are the prospects for the future?

Given the success of this pilot project, Thierry Tapé , representing the management of Codinorm, outlined the future guidelines:

1. Ensuring the sustainability of the training program.
2. Extension of the program to a larger number of companies.
3. Promoting a genuine culture of metrology on a national scale.

The quality of the technical support was also praised, in particular the expertise of the firm Couronne Alm which led the supervision of the trainees.
