These funds are intended to accelerate structural reforms, stimulate economic transformation and strengthen human capital across the country.
This new financial support is part of the long-term partnership between the World Bank Group and the Ivorian government. It targets several strategic levers:
Alongside these agreements, a tripartite memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy, the World Bank Group and the company Eni Côte d'Ivoire Limited.
This memorandum aims to guide the development of the Gas Master Plan for Côte d'Ivoire, a crucial project to consolidate energy security and support the country's industrial ambitions.
This signing formalizes the commitments made during the Consultative Group meeting on financing the National Development Plan (NDP). As a reminder, the World Bank Group has pledged a total of over $17 billion to Côte d'Ivoire, allocated as follows:
Marie-Chantal Uwanyiligira (World Bank Country Director in Côte d'Ivoire):
This funding demonstrates our firm commitment to supporting the Ivorian government in its key reforms, with a particular focus on youth employment, human capital and the energy transition.
Adama Coulibaly (Minister of Economy, Finance and Budget):
I am delighted by the excellent relationship we have with the World Bank. These resources will greatly contribute to accelerating the implementation of the major projects of the National Development Plan.
Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly (Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy):
The tripartite agreement for the Gas Master Plan marks a decisive turning point. It is an essential lever for guaranteeing our energy security and boosting our industrial base.
The signing ceremony also brought together Luca Feccenda, Managing Director of Eni Côte d'Ivoire, thus highlighting the strong synergy between the public sector, international institutions and the private sector.
