Amadou Koné hissé à la vice-présidence de CGLU Afrique
A significant achievement for Côte d'Ivoire on the international stage. Amadou Koné, President of the Union of Cities and Communes of Côte d'Ivoire (UVICOCI), has just been elected Vice-President of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) for Africa. This election took place during the organization's World Congress, held from June 23 to 25 in Tangier, Morocco.
By assuming this new role, Amadou Koné becomes the voice of African communities. His main responsibilities will revolve around three key areas:
"Decentralization is not an option, it is the condition of our development. Every strong municipality makes a strong nation," reacted the new vice-president, clearly displaying his ambitions.
This election marks a major recognition of Côte d'Ivoire's progress in local governance. At the head of UVICOCI, Amadou Koné has always positioned himself as a staunch advocate for the financial autonomy of municipalities, the training of local government officials, and the acceleration of decentralization reforms.
UVICOCI welcomed this appointment, seeing it as the culmination of the efforts made by all Ivorian local elected officials and a shining example of Côte d'Ivoire's influence in the field of territorial governance.
