Amadou Koné, President of the Union of Cities and Communes of Côte d'Ivoire (UVICOCI), has just been elected Vice-President of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) for Africa. This election took place during the organization's World Congress, held from June 23 to 25 in Tangier, Morocco.

The main points of his mission

By assuming this new role, Amadou Koné becomes the voice of African communities. His main responsibilities will revolve around three key areas:

1. To represent the continent's local elected officials within the organization's highest decision-making bodies.
2. Vigorously defend the interests of African territories.
3. To stimulate the sharing of experiences and good practices in local governance.

"Decentralization is not an option, it is the condition of our development. Every strong municipality makes a strong nation," reacted the new vice-president, clearly displaying his ambitions.
