Sommet de l'ONU : La Côte d’Ivoire confirme son leadership sur la gestion des migrations
Gathering at the United Nations headquarters in New York from May 5 to 8, 2026, nations from around the world are reviewing the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration . On this occasion, Côte d'Ivoire, represented by Dr. Hinin Moustapha , Director General of the National Population Office (ONP), strongly reiterated its commitment to transforming migration challenges into drivers of development.
One of the pillars of the Ivorian strategy rests on statistical accuracy. Dr. Moustapha emphasized that the country has undergone a genuine transformation of its data collection system.
Beyond the figures, Côte d'Ivoire is strengthening its human rights protection framework around three major axes:
For the Ivorian government, the paradigm has shifted. Migration is no longer viewed solely as a crisis, but as a strategic opportunity . Drawing on its tradition of hospitality, Côte d'Ivoire is committed to dignified and orderly management to foster shared economic growth.
A reminder about the Global Compact: Adopted in Marrakech in 2018, this text is the first framework for global cooperation on migration. Although not legally binding, it allows states to collaborate while respecting their national sovereignty, with the ultimate goal of maximizing the benefits of human mobility for sustainable development.
