On the eve of the 10th African Anti-Corruption Day, the NGO CIVIS Côte d'Ivoire mobilized. Meeting on Friday, July 10, 2026, at its headquarters in Cocody-Angré, the organization launched a passionate appeal to intensify actions in favor of transparency and ethics on the continent.

Reforms hampered by resistance

At the inaugural conference, the NGO's first vice-president, Dr. Anderson Koffi, offered a clear-eyed assessment of the situation. While many African countries have established institutional frameworks, the scourge of corruption persists and continues to undermine economic development and governance.

"If the African Union is calling today for an intensification of the fight against corruption, it is because resistance persists," Dr. Anderson Koffi emphasized.

According to him, the effectiveness of prevention and repression mechanisms too often clashes with the normalization of certain abuses, social justifications and deeply entrenched strategies for circumventing them.

For an inclusive and technological approach

Faced with these challenges, the participants outlined several priority courses of action:

1. A general mobilization: Building a culture of integrity must involve public authorities, civil society, the private sector, and citizens. Particular emphasis has been placed on the leading role of women and young people in denouncing wrongdoing and promoting good practices.
2. The digital lever: The speakers welcomed the potential of digital technologies to strengthen transparency, guarantee the accountability of institutions and optimize the monitoring of public policies.

A call for concrete action

In conclusion, CIVIS Côte d'Ivoire urged all stakeholders to move beyond mere rhetoric. The organization called for commitments made to be translated into concrete, measurable, and sustainable actions in order to definitively establish governance based on accountability.
