A decisive step has just been taken for the energy future of Côte d'Ivoire. This Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy, the World Bank and the company ENI Côte d'Ivoire officially signed a Memorandum of Intent .

This agreement formalizes their joint commitment to conduct the strategic studies essential for the development of the future Ivorian Gas Master Plan .

A boost stemming from recent gas discoveries

Fueled by major gas field discoveries in recent years, Côte d'Ivoire is accelerating the implementation of its national strategy. This new tripartite partnership will be structured around two main pillars:

1. Infrastructure: Planning the construction of future natural gas transport and processing networks.
2. Regulatory framework: Define an attractive and secure institutional environment to stimulate private investment in the sector.

Three players, one strategic synergy

The success of this initiative depends on the complementarity of the forces involved:

1. The Ivorian state provides political and strategic leadership for the project.
2. The World Bank provides technical and financial support, notably through the PRIME-GAS project.
3. ENI leverages its recognized international expertise in managing large-scale integrated gas projects.

The expected impact: By developing its natural gas resources, Ivory Coast intends to consolidate its electricity production, boost its industrial base and reaffirm its status as an essential energy hub in West Africa.

Through this large-scale project, the three partners are laying the foundations for enhanced energy security, a structural transformation of the economy and sustainable growth for the country.
