The Ivorian state is strengthening its position in the mining sector. During the Council of Ministers meeting on June 3, 2026, the government formalized the acquisition of 1,500 additional shares in Compagnie Minière du Baffin SA (CMB), for a total of 3.5 billion CFA francs . This transaction represents 15% of the company's share capital, purchased from the majority shareholder.

According to Amadou Coulibaly, government spokesperson, a decree has been adopted to authorize this increase in public financial participation in the CMB.

Overall public participation rising to 30%

This operation reshuffles the cards of the company's shareholding:

The Ivorian state sees its direct share jump from 10% to 25% .
SODEMI (Société pour le développement minier de la Côte d'Ivoire) maintains its historical 5% stake.
The public sector now holds a combined total of 30% of the capital.
The majority private operator retains the remaining 70% .

This strategic decision allows Ivory Coast to maximize the economic benefits of its mineral resources while maintaining a strong partnership with private investors.
