The private hire vehicle (PHV) sector in Ivory Coast is about to undergo a major transformation. Faced with rapid growth marked by price and social tensions, Minister Amadou Koné officially launched a vast regulatory project on March 13, 2026.
The ambition is clear: to move from a "wild" market to a fair, transparent and secure ecosystem by the beginning of summer.
Following strategic discussions with market leaders (notably Yango), six levers for action were selected to clean up the sector:
The government does not intend to delay. As early as the beginning of April 2026 , a technical committee composed of representatives of the State, platforms, drivers' unions and users will meet.
